Chestnut Square Heritage Village

For a journey back in time, visit Chestnut Square Historic Village, a remarkable collection of historical buildings. Located just south of downtown McKinney, it features six historic homes, a replica of a one-room schoolhouse, a chapel, and a store. You'll also find a blacksmith shop, smokehouse, and reception house with beautiful gardens. The entire village is overseen by the Heritage Guild of Collin County.

Lake Lavon

Lake Lavon is a reservoir located in North Texas on the East Fork of the Trinity River. In Collin County just off Highway 78. The 21,400-acre lake began construction in 1948 and was completed in 1953. The large Corp of Engineers reservoir covers 21,400 acres. Four large parks with hookups for campers, also day-use parks. Boat ramps, marina services, swimming beaches, and hunting areas for ducks. Headquarters is in the west end or at the dam off Texas 78 about 10 miles north of Rockwall.

McKinney Performing Arts Center

The McKinney Performing Arts Center is located in beautiful Historic Downtown McKinney and is the host to unforgettable concerts and events. Located in the old Collin County Courthouse.

Myers Park and Event Center

Myers Park and Events Center was created in 1969 for Collin County youth. Land was donated by John and Winnie Myers. The park has now grown to over 165 acres. Numerous events are held every year at the beautiful park. The calendar of events includes brides and grooms exchanging wedding vows, cowboys riding wild broncs, and all types of indoor and outdoor events.

North Texas History Center

The North Texas History Center discovers, preserves and shares our North Texas heritage with the present and future generations through its museums and programs. 8000 children attend the events yearly.

Third Monday Trade Days

Third Monday Trade Days is the oldest and largest flea market in North Texas. Antiques, arts and crafts, and other items attract shoppers on the weekend preceding the third Monday of the month. More than 900 vendor booths open each weekend before the third Monday of each month.

Wilson Creek Ballfield Complex

Located in the Townlake Recreation Area. Six ballfields host the Adult Leagues Softball teams.

Heard-Craig House

205 West Hunt St, McKinney, Texas 75069

Built in 1900, this 7000 square foot masterpiece home was the center of social, business, art, and literary activities. Today it is furnished with antique furniture, artwork, and heirlooms. Tours are 2pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Saturday 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm.

Pecan Grove Cemetery

Texas 5 and Eldorado, McKinney, Texas 75070

Located on property granted by the Republic of Texas in 1845. The cemetery honors the remains of the original Texas settlers of McKinney, including Dr. James Webb Throckmorton, governor of Texas 1866-1867. In addition, headstones mark the presence of 203 veterans from the Texas Revolution, the Mexican War, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam conflicts.

Pizza Hut Park

The Cotton Mill in McKinney was built in the 1880s. The cotton mill closed in 1969. Now, it hosts events such as weddings, large parties, and receptions. Located close to downtown McKinney and the historical district. Just a short distance from our hotel.

Big Orange Pumpkin Patch

Situated on a quiet CR 126 between US HWY 380 & FM 455, the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm is a great place to spend an October day. The farm was started in 1997 to create a place where you can witness what it's like to be on a farm. On weekdays, just $7.00 gets you a hayride, feed the animals, and a small or medium pumpkin. Weekends—hayride, feed the animals, and a hot dog. Pumpkins and drinks are sold separately.
