I stayed at the HI, Rutland, VT on 2-1-16 for one overnight. I found the staff to be extremely courteous and helpful. However, vending machines did not work or were empty, the décor seemed outdated and the general feeling was one that the hotel was not clean.
I'm not saying that I will never stay there again, I did feel safe and it had the basic needs. However, it needs a little TLC and updating. I feel it is below standard, compared to the other HI that I normally use.

Clean rooms and not far from Killington. Pool and hot tub which the kids enjoyed. Close to stores and resturants for any needs.

January 2016. The room was very cold. The HVAC unit (heater) was drafty, it let cold air seep into the room. The cold draft kept the room cold and kept the noisy heater ON all the time. I basically had to choose between cold but quiet or warm but noisy room. Staff offered me another room the next day but it was exactly the same. Since I already had a hard time sleeping the night before, I declined and went next door.
The Internet connection might as well have been non existent, I got disconnected almost as soon as I got a WiFi signal.
