A bit of a misunderstanding...no more their fault than mine..to start with but HI went way beyond my expectations to put things right, resulting in the most fabulous pre-flight night I have had. Big thanks...next time I will make sure I ask the correct questions and get the answers in writing though.

All staff at this hotel are friendly and professional, which I have found to be a tough combination for a lot of other hotels to achieve.
The beds here are a dream - great nights sleep, and the room was spotless and very comfortable.
We ate a 3-course dinner and breakfast at the hotel but did not arrive early enough for lunch, otherwise we would have eaten there for that too. All food was lovely, nicely presented and tasted fresh.
There were no bad points to this hotel - we would recommend and will be staying again.

When I saw the hotel I had high hopes - obviously nice & new, and within a couple of hundred yards to Southend Airport - ideal for an early flight out to Switzerland in the morning.
However, problems started when I had to wait 15 minutes in a queue to check-in - one of the receptionists had apparently "disappeared" and despite a number of calls from the increasingly beleaguered colleague, the absentee couldn't be traced!
There was then no recognition whatsoever in terms of Rewards Club status...
But the worst experience was at 3:50 in the morning when the air conditioning system started making all sorts of repetitive mechanical noises, despite me having switched the thing off before retiring...!
Having said that, the room itself was spacious, the bed comfortable and the bar meal was very acceptable.
But all in all, I really expected better and was somewhat disappointed I'm afraid...
